It’s time for me to stand down

I have been proud to serve Canada as an army officer in the Cadet Instructors Cadre for the past 23 years. It has been a privilege to have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of thousands of youth—both directly and through leadership and administrative roles. I am deeply grateful for the amazing experiences and for the friendships formed along the way.

I have decided to retire from the Canadian Armed Forces. After more than two decades in uniform, I am bringing my military service to a close in a few weeks.

As for what’s next, I’m going to take some time to focus on my health, to slow down a bit and to put energy into personal projects I enjoy. I’ll also be working part-time as the Financial and Office Administrator for Two Rivers Pastoral Charge.

Details of a Depart with Dignity event will be shared with colleagues. A separate “stand-down celebration” will be held at my home on June 20th at 4:00 p.m. Friends, family, neighbours and colleagues are warmly invited. Click here to RSVP.

I’m Daniel Mark.

Welcome to my blog.

This blog breaks rules. It doesn’t focus on just one theme and I don’t post to it on a consistent schedule. That’s OK. It’s my blog. Not yours.

But you’re here! If you think you can piece together what it all means, I’d be curious to know your conclusions.
