Before photos of the Rockton Lodge kitchen renovation

With the downstairs renovations complete, it’s time to move upstairs, starting with a complete kitchen guy and rebuild.

Yesterday we placed an order for all new kitchen cabinets. This evening, demolition began.

Here are “before” photos for reference. This 1968 kitchen was stunning in its day, but its day has come and gone.

We’ll be ripping out the peninsula and wall to add over 50 square feet to the room. It’s going to get a large island. The sink will move over to the island so one no longer has to face the wall when doing dishes. It’s going to have oodles of cabinet space, including 40-inch-tall uppers, and nearly 60 square feet of countertop.

The sloped ceiling is mysteriously 7 inches lower than elsewhere in the house, so we’ll soon be poking a hole in the drywall to see what lies above!

I’ll be regularly posting progress photos as we go.

Welcome to my blog.

This blog breaks rules. It doesn’t focus on just one theme and I don’t post to it on a consistent schedule. That’s OK. It’s my blog. Not yours.

But you’re here! If you think you can piece together what it all means, I’d be curious to know your conclusions.
