I Found Love

February 8, 2012

I found love.
I didn’t find it where my parents wanted me to.
And I didn’t find it fast.
But I found love, the kind that leads me to
Know that it will last.

With the help of my friend, the world wide web,
And some late night internet chat.
From there to a first date, but not straight into bed!
Watching a movie, we sat.

And then the next day, would he call? Should I call?
The wait made it all the more fun.
He texted. Or I did. I actually cannot recall.
But somehow it all had begun.

Soon he stayed, overnight, in fact he never left.
But that’s alright ’cause he holds me so tight.
Every day he comes home, and it takes away my breath,
This feeling that feels oh so right.

Soon the days turned to weeks and the weeks into months,
And now over two years have passed.
Since that first date, the movie, the call and the hunch,
That perhaps I’d found true love at last.

Sure enough, I know now, that this feeling I feel
Is something that forever will stay.
After all, I do think, that it must be quite real,
To have remained oh so strong to this day.

This love that I’ve found is looked down on by some,
But to them I don’t give a thought.
’Cause I know that this love, between two men is from
The same place that those folks seek, or sought.

A place where compromise, affection and kindness
Sit at the root of all deeds.
And also a place where greed, guilt and selfishness
Never have chance to take seed.

I found love, or perhaps it found me.
Who’s to say how it all came to pass?
All I know is this love make me happy inside,
So happy and contented at last.

It’s not quite Valentine’s Day yet, but I was prompted to write a love poem. No doubt I declared my affection for a girl in my first or second grade class through a “Roses are Red” poem, but I don’t think that other than that I’ve ever written any romantic poetry before, so this is what I came up with.

Welcome to my blog.

This blog breaks rules. It doesn’t focus on just one theme and I don’t post to it on a consistent schedule. That’s OK. It’s my blog. Not yours.

But you’re here! If you think you can piece together what it all means, I’d be curious to know your conclusions.
