Wingardium Leviosa

The sun is shining.

The grass is green.

The trees are beginning to bud. There’s roadkill everywhere. Spring is here, and that makes me glad.

Spring is my favourite season. With April behind us, the rainiest part of the year is over—not that I mind rain. What I love most is the way the trees are just beginning to come back to life. Every deciduous tree seems to have its own unique shade of green. Later in the summer they all blend together, but right now an entire hillside looks more beautiful to me than the colours of autumn.

I went down to Saint John after work on Thursday. I stopped at Walmart to pick out new frames for my glasses, had my first taste of Domino’s Pizza, squeezed in a driving lesson on the way back from a trip to Ketepec, and later practised a little more in an empty parking lot after dark.

There was also some Harry Potter watching.

I’ve now watched the first three Harry Potter movies.

I think I’d like to get a wand.

I’d cast spells like Confundo and Dissendium. Or, if I were ever attacked by Dementors, I’d think of my happiest memories, point my wand, and shout, Expecto Patronum!

Yes, I should get a wand.

Perhaps I’m a wizard and I just don’t know it.

This weekend I worked on a second Silver Star Expedition. Once again, we had a rainy weekend. Somehow, while packing, I managed to forget all of my combat pants, so I had to borrow a pair. On Sunday, instead of going mountain biking with the cadets, I was tasked with driving the panel van from Waterford to Saint John to return equipment to storage.

On Sunday night I went to Grande-Digue to visit Brandon and Marc before heading to Moncton to watch X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The drive home, around midnight, became another highway driving lesson. There was practically no traffic, so it made for a good opportunity to practise. He drove all the way home, through the city, up the driveway, and parked perfectly between the lines.

There is hope.

Yesterday morning I didn’t get out of bed until noon. I had lunch at a little takeout restaurant and then went for a drive through Irving Nature Park, where I spotted a fox and two porcupines.

Last night I pitched my parents’ large two-room tent to inspect it before this weekend’s camping trip. It’s dirty on the outside, but the inside is clean. Dad and I repaired one small tear with duct tape. Other than that, it’s in pretty good shape.

Tonight I’m planning to waterproof the tent, start repairing my canoe, fix an air mattress, and test the propane camping stove.

This week I’m also working an extra 12½ hours at Concentra, in addition to cadets on Wednesday night and two web development projects Devern and I are working on.

So when I finish work at noon on Saturday, I’ll be more than ready to hit the road for a camping trip.

Tomorrow is another day. Always an adventure.

Welcome to my blog.

This blog breaks rules. It doesn’t focus on just one theme and I don’t post to it on a consistent schedule. That’s OK. It’s my blog. Not yours.

But you’re here! If you think you can piece together what it all means, I’d be curious to know your conclusions.
