Here we go again.

I’ve had a little frustration trying to write this post. It’s going to seem like I’m not blogging in chronological order, but I had trouble writing about my weekend, so I’m doing it now.

Third time’s the charm.

My weekend started on Thursday afternoon when I left work and drove down to Saint John. In the evening I went for a walk at Rockwood Park, then for a drive through Millidgeville and across the ferry to the Kingston Peninsula.

I also watched the first Harry Potter movie.

I’ve got some catching up to do because I’d never seen a Harry Potter movie and I’ve never read any of the books. My goal is to watch all of the movies before the sixth one comes out on July 15. I fell asleep about an hour before the end of the first movie, so I finished it the next night. I watched the second movie on Monday night, but once again I went to bed an hour before the ending—they’re long movies. I finished that one on Tuesday afternoon.

So now I’m all caught up and ready to move on to Number 3 tonight… perhaps.

On Friday morning I went to Sussex, where I worked as a syndicate commander for the Regional Cadet Land Training School (Atlantic) on a Silver Star Expedition. We spent the night in wet tents in the woods, and on Saturday morning we hiked rough ATV trails near Sussex Corner and Poley Mountain. Saturday night was spent—again in wet tents—near an old lodge on Watson Lake.

On Sunday morning, while the cadets learned rope skills, we checked tire pressures on the mountain bikes. After lunch we headed out for about a three-hour ride. The expedition went well because it was well staffed, and the cadets remained positive despite the less-than-favourable weather. My syndicate, in particular, consisted of four energetic, fit cadets and an eager staff cadet.

After a big supper at Adair’s Wilderness Lodge, I drove home.

On Monday I worked at Concentra before hopping back in the car and heading to Saint John. That evening I visited Aunt Susan at her new Uptown studio, made a quick trip to Irving Nature Park, stopped at McDonald’s, gave another driving lesson, and went to the Superstore for baking supplies.

I helped (slightly) make the most scrumptious, moist, chewy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Tuesday morning I had breakfast with Aunt Susan. In the afternoon, after delivering cookies to Grammy, we went for another driving lesson. It went really well—until the very end.

Afterward I test drove a Mazda3, which didn’t interest me much, followed by a 2010 Toyota Corolla Sport.

Woop, woop!

Tuesday night I worked with Devern for a couple of hours.

Back to Saint John tonight.

Tomorrow is another day. Always an adventure.

I’m Daniel Mark.

Welcome to my blog.

This blog breaks rules. It doesn’t focus on just one theme and I don’t post to it on a consistent schedule. That’s OK. It’s my blog. Not yours.

But you’re here! If you think you can piece together what it all means, I’d be curious to know your conclusions.
